Cambridge Green Party has reaffirmed its commitment to trans-inclusion in a statement which you can download here. The full text is as follows:
We will continue to make our local party a welcoming and safe place for all, including trans and non-binary people.
We fully support the Green Party of England and Wales’ Trans Rights policy, which states “trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary identities exist and are valid” (full policy can be found here) and the right to self-determination of gender.
We will continue to oppose all forms of bigotry, including transphobia, as there can be no environmental justice without social and economic justice.
We condemn all uses of transphobic dog whistling, misrepresentation and demonization, by anyone, no matter their positions or level of influence, both within and outside the party.
We urge our party leadership, executive, and membership to take a stronger stance against transphobia in all its forms, both vocally and procedurally – this means making sure that:
Our Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to equal rights for all.
Our complaints process is given appropriate support and investment to function properly.
Our complaints process is streamlined to deal with cases of bigotry quickly and decisively.
Our members, especially those in positions of influence, are accountable – given an opportunity to learn from, without repeatedly exhibiting, problematic behaviour.
Our national party learns from and works with liberation groups to create a safe environment for all marginalised groups.
Our national party permanently expels those who repeatedly exhibit bigoted behaviour.
Our national party stops being complicit by ignoring repeated bigotry exhibited by some of its representatives.
